My name is Jocelyn and I am a 26 year old mother of one originally from Phoenix, Arizona. I relocated to Gresham with my fiance and our son in 2012 after working with families and their children for over a decade as a care provider/ au pair and pre-school teacher as well as performing as a modern and ballet dancer through college.

After processing my own unique birth experience, I set out to gain the tools necessary to support and nurture other laboring and postpartum moms. I completed Birthingway College of Midwifery's Labor Doula training workshop in Spring 2013.

As a secular-naturalist birth doula, I provide emotional and physical support to a woman and her family during her pregnancy, labor and immediate postpartum, from a holistic perspective. I can also encourage communication with staff to ensure that you have the information you need to make informed decisions regarding your birth. I can provide reassurance and perspective to you and your partner, make suggestions for labor progress, help with relaxation, massage, positioning and other techniques to meet your needs and wishes as intuitively as possible.

The presence of a doula lifts the sole responsibility of the labor off the shoulders of you, a partner or family member, allowing maximum enjoyment of the whole birth process. I can help your partner or family member to feel calm, confident and informed, giving him or her ideas to continue support from beginning to end. I am there to provide support to you and your team at all times.  This is your birth experience and it is important that you feel free to decide on what you want at the time.

On request, I use visual focus points including position charts, affirmations, birth scenario check lists and optical illustration for natural dilation and meditation purposes. I am always interested in new techniques to allow for optimal birth experience of the laboring woman and her birth team! I also have a small lending library and a collection of tools for comfort in labor.

I am comfortable in various birth settings including but not limited to home, hospital, and birth center. I support birthing mothers with an eagerness to learn and self advocate regardless of socioeconomic level, sexual orientation, marital status, immigration status, ethnicity, size, or age.
